advantage
This new work, which blends the fresh and the dark, will not only satisfy Harry Potter fans but also attract more audience members to join their ranks.
Compared to the first two films, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" appears much more sinister and terrifying. During Harry Potter's third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, many of his encounters are related to the death of his parents. The appearance of his godfather, Sirius Black, adds a lot of tension to his school life. His relationship with his friends Ron and Hermione also goes through some ups and downs as they gradually mature. All signs indicate that Harry Potter's life seems to be greatly threatened, and the plot of the movie becomes increasingly intricate and exciting. This film showcases the magic of the movie itself more vividly and significantly improves the entertainment value of the imagery.
The film is not only the best of the first three Harry Potter movies but also captivating even to audiences unfamiliar with Rowling and her works.
The film presents excellent fluidity and is full of magic.
This is a different Harry Potter movie, the best among the first three films, and it also gives the magical series a reason to continue filming.
The movie that fascinates children the most, of course, is one where a child truly grows into a magical adult.
This movie is the best in the "Harry Potter" series. "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" was shot so deeply and mysteriously, restoring the style of the original.
Director Alfonso Cuarón, with the growth of young Harry as the main thread, presents us with a dazzling magical world. Moreover, due to his unique style, he infuses the once lifeless film adaptation with the mischievous vitality and dark humor of adolescence.
negative
The film is merely a passionate performance by director Alfonso Cuarón.
The movie is a lengthy story and employs a somber visual palette, failing to achieve an uplifting effect overall.
The main plot of the film revolves around the arrival of Sirius Black and the mystery of Harry's parents' death. To highlight this theme, the movie's story simplifies the original by cutting out many details, making the main plot line clearer. However, this approach inevitably leads to a lack of clarity in the portrayal of the relationships between various characters.
Behind the scenes production
Clothing design
To ensure that the costumes were in line with the contemporary style of the film, costume designer Jenny Temin made subtle adjustments, lightening the colors of the clothing, and offering a variety of options including sweatshirts, hoodies, and sweaters. Even for a scene in Harry Potter where he plays Quidditch, the production team特意 arranged for rain, and the designer specifically used a new type of waterproof fabric.
Shooting process
To perfectly match the melancholic style of the film, the director arranged for numerous scenes of rain. Since the story of the film is darker than the previous two, the lighting is also more somber and interspersed with more shadows.
Director Card used a lot of wide-angle lenses to tell the story, and the film crew accidentally encountered 28 days of continuous rainy weather while shooting in the canyon of Scotland, which coincided perfectly with the shooting requirements, making the entire crew overjoyed.
Bringing the half-eagle, half-horse character Buckbeak to the big screen was a painstaking effort for the creators, taking several months just to complete the blueprint, and a full year to build the model. Generating Buckbeak in motion with CGI was challenging, but the most difficult technical aspect was ensuring that the eagle's feathers moved in harmony with the body's motion.
The three-tiered "Knight Bus" is another eye-catching piece of equipment in the film. The body is derived from a London bus, while the chassis has been remade to withstand the specially designed body. The scene in the film where the "Knight Bus" races down the highway at 100 miles per hour was shot in London. During actual filming, the bus was traveling at only 30 miles per hour, while the speed of other vehicles was reduced to 8 miles per hour.
Box office results
The film was released in the United States on June 6, 2004, and in its opening weekend, it was shown in 3,855 theaters across the country, earning $93.68 million to take the top spot at the box office. In the UK, the film's opening weekend box office was £23.88 million.
